Even if you can run 250 km from 100% charge, it is severe in a day trip

New Nissan Leaf G (ze1) I am riding a white / blue two-tone.
In February, I went on a day trip of about 370 km round trip from Yokohama to Izukata.
A small trip with my wife and a 5-year-old child.

The plan is to leave at around 6:00 in the morning, use the Tomei Expressway, go to Izu, watch a little event, and then return home.

A leaf with a battery capacity of 40 kwh can run about 250 km if charged to 100%.
If you think about it somehow, you can run 250 km, so X2 is 500 km.
A trip on a 370km road can afford a single charge!

Even on my reef every day, I feel like that somehow.

However, if you think about it, one quick charge takes 30 minutes with an output of 40kw.
Even if it can be charged for 30 minutes with the output of 40kw, it is 20kwh.
Actually, even if you start charging with 40kw output, from the viewpoint of battery protection? Since the output can be reduced more and more, even if it is charged from a state where the battery is quite low, I think that it should be able to charge at most 15 kWh.

Our leaf is 40kwh, so we can't charge half of it.
Is it a place like 100km in terms of distance?

And while traveling, even when you reach the charging spot, there are times when you are waiting for a lot of charging or the charger is broken and you can not use it.
If I have a lot of room, I will be anxious if I do not charge anymore when it is about 40%.

Is it safe to charge during a break?

It is often said that
"If you drive for one or two hours in a row, it's better to take a break, so if you lightly charge while you're resting, you won't have trouble charging."

I honestly agreed with that idea.
But that's the story of "if everything went well" ...

Of course, this trip was also intended.
Leave with the reef charged to almost 100%.
Ride on the Tomei Expressway and ran for about 100 km.
Charge it for 30 minutes just in case.

Running 100 km on the highway consumes about 30-40% of the battery.
From that state, quick charging is performed. However, when the quick charging is over 80%, the output of the charging drops considerably and the battery is not charged much.
So, when charging with quick charge, even if it charges for 30 minutes, the charge will end in about 80% level.

During a day trip, you will always take care of quick charging,
Charging for 30 minutes is only up to 80%.
It means that.

80% charge means that after a quick charge, the cruising range is 200km.
Once charged, you need to keep in mind that you can run 200 kilometers afterwards.
If it is 100%, it is 250 km, but the difference from 80% to 200 kg is unexpectedly large (・ _ ・;

And although I can run 200 km, the next charging point is not always able to be charged, so if there is a margin, 40% is left, and if you try to determine the next charging point ...
60% of 200kg is 120kg.

You have to decide the next charging point within 120 km from your current location.

And if you try to determine the next charging point within a range of 120 kilometers, there is, of course, a charging point just 120 kilometers away! It is unlikely that the charging point will be set farther than 120 km ...

In this way, if it is a day trip, a reasonable distance trip,
Even though the cruising range of a 100% charge was 250 km, I experienced that I was in a severe situation with myself this time (^ _ ^;)

At the point I was thinking about charging, the charger failed ...

This day trip departed early in the morning, so it was quite successful at first.
If you charge like this during a break, you can afford it at all!
I thought

After getting off the Tomei Expressway, there is also a quick charge in the parking area of Hakone, so if you charge it there, you can return to the rest, and if you charge once on the Tomei Expressway, will you be able to reach the house properly?
I was planning that way.

However···
Orz which cannot be charged in the parking area of Hakone
When I arrived at the parking area in Hakone, I just tried to charge it because the quick charge was vacant, but the charging did not start well.
If you can't charge at this point, your plan will go awry.

The phone number of the contact was written on the quick charger, so when I called it, it seemed that there was a problem and it couldn't be used right now.

Well.
For the time being, even if you do not charge here, you can get to the destination at first, but there is no charging facility at that point, so what happened after that?

However, I couldn't charge what I couldn't charge, so I went to the destination for the time being.

On the way back, the storm awaits charging

In the end, after the event is over, we will charge the Nissan dealer on the way home.
Before getting on the highway, there is a 30 minute loss time, but this can not be helped.

The way back from there is nearly 200 kilometers, so if you have 80% charge, it will be a bit sloppy to get home without charging.
The battery is being charged and the time is slowly pushing, so the possibility of getting stuck in traffic is increasing.
I was addicted to traffic and lost my charge! I don't even know what to do (・ _ ・;

We were able to get on smoothly up to the Tomei Expressway on the way back.
Wouldn't it be perfect if everyone could enjoy the ferris wheel in the Fujikawa service area and charge it during that time? !
I made such a plan.

However···
After all, it didn't go so well, and the quick charge of the Fujikawa service area is charging outlander PHEV, and next to it is another reef waiting to be charged.

It seems better to give up charging here.
Here, we enjoyed the Ferris wheel and the park for about 30 minutes and headed for the next Ashigara.

In the Ashigara service area, one of the two quick chargers was vacant, so we could charge it!
I'm so happy to be able to attach it to the charger ... (・ ・;)

With this charge, it is about 80% again.
After that, even if there was a traffic jam, we were able to secure enough power to get home!

Nevertheless, I managed to get to my house on this hard schedule!

After that, I was caught in a traffic jam on the Tomei Expressway.
But I managed to get home without a power shortage.

The remaining battery power is 29%.
I think it's different for people to see if they have arrived at a margin, or if they felt a bit painful.
After all, it was a bit painful for me ...

If you look at the history of that day with the leaf application,
"Good driving!"
It was
Thank you very much (^ _ ^;)

The daily electricity cost is 6.6km / kwh.
For a cold winter day, I think it's not a bad electricity bill.

The power consumption is 56.2kwh.
To charge it, you spend so many times charging it ...
Because I use quick charging four times,
30 minutes X 4 = 2 hours

Did you spend two hours recharging during a day's trip (・ □ ・;)
After all, on an EV, a day trip on a reasonable distance on holiday seemed to be quite prepared.

This time, it was a trip to realize the difficulty of quick charging on the go.
If you are traveling only for adults and you can move on weekdays, or if you have some flexibility, it may not be a problem.
This time, bad luck was repeated several times, and it was a difficult trip, but if you are on a weekday, you do not need the hardship like today (^ _ ^;)

The child is still small to some extent, and travel is only for holidays! In the case of a family like this, it is better to stay overnight, rather than forcibly taking a day trip if possible.
So, if the hotel has a normal charge, there is no need to say anymore.

For the next trip, think about this and then plan.
If you are in a hurry with EV, please be careful (^_^)
